Built-in Bliss
The built-in bookcase under our master bathroom window is now complete!
After much planning and many drawings, we finally (with the expert assistance of our neighbor Ken) cut all the pieces for the bookcase last weekend.
This weekend, Darwin nail-gunned it together and caulked it up nice and pretty, and then I primed and painted it. You can admit it - it's the prettiest bookcase you've ever seen, right?

We also painted a second and third coat on the bathroom floor:

And cut, primed and painted the baseboards (Benjamin Moore Glacier White, left, primer on the right):

We're getting so close I can taste it!

Whooo - that's adorable :)
And, for some reason, I can now comment in Firefox. Which means you've got two accomplishments to celebrate today.
YAY! Another Firefox user checking in to say the problem seems to be fixed!
The bookcase looks great. What will be next to this bookcase and what will you use it for? Storing lotions and potions? Reading material while one "rests" on the "throne"?
I really love the paint color, Kristin. Great choice!
Very nice! Great colors, too!
It is adorable- what a sanctary you will have there. I love the beadboard and the natural light. lovely.
It does look nice, and as Mindy pointed out, your site is working agian! You must tell us what the problem was. I am a born code debugger and this has really been bugging me.
Thanks, guys, we love it, too! We went around the house measuring different objects (toilet paper, shampoo bottles) before we determined the height of the shelves. We'll probably use it for practical things interspersed with pretty things. We'll also have a deep non-set-in-the-wall medicine cabinet hanging over the toilet that will hold lots of unattractive bathroom toiletries.
Oh, and what I did to fix the Firefox problem was give in and publish to a blogspot address instead of my own domain name. FTP'ing does not work well with the new Beta. I'm actually in the process of switching to WordPress, but I'm having the worst time remembering how to tinker with CSS! I'm hoping to get at least the basic site going today! :)
I'm so glad I found you again! Love your site so much. I wanted to let you know that I had your site bookmarked as http://1902victorian.com/diary.html
But your newest post(s) doesn't show up on that address. I was dying to find out what was happening with the bathroom. Luckily you were featured on houseblogs.net or I might have been wondering forever.
I'll take this opportunity to thank you so much for your great blog. We have an old house ourselves (1898) and I love reading about others' experiences.
